™ Location ˜

Basin Border Collies is located at an elevation of about 4,500 ft in south central Oregon's Klamath Basin. The summers are moderately hot and winters can have snow cover for months, with temperatures usually between freezing and zero. Thus our Border Collies are accustomed to a 100 degree span in temperatures and working at a higher altitude.
™ Facilities ˜
Basin Border Collies has a small commercial sheep operation, running about 100 ewes on 60 acres of leased pasture. The ranch facilities include several barns, drop pen, corrals and alleys with a three way sorting chute. Pastures vary in size from three to twenty acres and allow the dogs numerous opportunities for longer range work. The home place has training pens in various sizes for three separate groups of livestock maintained to provide different combinations for customized training levels.
While all of Basin Border Collies' puppies are crate and kennel trained, they are also a part of our family and are well socialized. The puppies are handled at least twice a day from birth, bonding with people and learning to want to please them. Basin Border Collies' puppies receive regular vaccinations, wormings, CERF exams and are sold with a current health exam by our veterinarian. Our puppies are exposed to a large variety of livestock, cattle, sheep, goats, turkeys, ducks, geese and a donkey pastured near their kennels after weaning. Our Border Collie puppies also learn to interact with other older dogs, cats, children and strangers in a positive manner. They are started on basic obedience training between 8 and 10 weeks of age and are introduced to livestock between three and four months old.
