After searching for a working bloodline Red Border Collie female for roughly two years, Basin Border Collies purchased it's foundation breeding stock from Abingdon Ranch in Cheshire, Oregon. Abingdon Ranch is a working cattle ranch, their Border Collies are an essential part of it's operation. Abingdon Ranch specializes in working ranch Red Border Collies. Here you will find ASCA Trial Champions & USBCHA National Finals Trial Champion competitors utilized in the day to day running of a working cattle ranch. Brian Abingdon is a very successful Clinician, Handler and Stock Dog Trainer, both in training working ranch stock dogs and those that also are highly successful on the ASCA, USBCHA and other Trial Championship venues. He was the owner of 1990 Reserve North American Champion Rojo. In 2000 Brian placed 5th in the Lone Star Futurity. Between 2002 and 2004 he placed at the USBCHA Finals in Open, Novice and Nursery classes. He and his dogs have won 14 Open Trial buckles and he trained 7 ASCA Working Trial Champions. Basin Border Collies benefits greatly from Brian's help. He has instructed five in an ongoing series of Stock Dog Clinics here in the Klamath Basin. For more information see our clinic page. Abingdon Ranch's training facilites include an indoor training arena (72' X 204'), an outdoor training arena (200' X 300'), training pens for younger and newly started dogs and handlers, and larger pastures for advanced training techniques. ABCA Rough Red and White Border Collie
Rojo was the 1990 Reserve North American Working Trial Champion,
ABCA Rough Red and White Border Collie Tip is a working cattle ranch dog. In 2008, Tip achieved his ASCA Working Trial Champion (WTCH). Thong is Tip's littermate. Tip has Rojo, the 1990 Reserve North American Trial Champion, in his pedigree. He is the sire of Spice's first litter. ABCA Rough Red and White Border Collie Thong, Tip's littermate, is an ASCA Working Trial Champion and two time USBCHA National Finals Qualifier. She was also one of the youngest dogs to qualify at 13 months. Thong has Rojo, the 1990 Reserve North American Trial Champion, in her pedigree. Thong is Aussie's dam.
ABCA Slick Red and White Border Collie One of the top two year olds at the Lonestar Futurity, Nan then went on to place third at the World Cow Dog Championship at three. Nan has qualified for the USBCHA National Finals numerous times and won 10 Trial Championship buckles. Retired from trial competition, nine year old Nan has puppies and goes with Brian daily on the ranch.

ABCA Slick Red and White Border Collie Spice was BBC's first purchase as a working 4 month old pup. She is line bred to 1990 Reserve North American Champion Rojo. Spice works BBC's flock of sheep with controlled calm. She gently handles our ewes and lambs, utilizing enough power when needed to convince any reluctant sheep to cooperate. Spice's first litter was sired by Tip who also has a line to Rojo. Spice's second litter was sired by Aussie who's dam Thong, Tip's littermate, also has a line to Rojo.
ABCA Rough Red and White Border Collie Nip is sired by Tip out of Lonerider Nan. He is our third dog purchased from Abingdon Ranch. Nip is training to be Spice's backup at the ranch. He has a herding style very similar to Spice's, of gently controlling stock, moving calmly and quietly and getting the job done. He is the sire of Spice's third litter.
ABCA Red and White Border Collie Cindy was our second purchase fom Abingdon Ranch. Cindy is sired by Tip out of Cookie, a daughter of Lex and Lonerider Nan.
